Operation lead by Trading standards and Kent Police |
||
Dear, Resident
On Friday 16th May 2025, local officers joined Trading Standards in targeting some local shops, Trading Standards were looking for the sale of illegal tobacco, alcohol and any other products that were not fit for sale. This is the second time in the last 2 months Kent Police have assisted Trading Standards and more targeted events like this will occur again as its proving successful.
One store was spoken to about selling items that aid the use of cannabis, for example cannabis grinders and other paraphernalia. The newsagent was reminded of its commitment to helping the local community and it was suggested they remove the items from the shelf. If not, the police may follow up on this with some counter measures such as a Community protection Notice which can lead to a community protection Order through applying to the courts. The same shop had a number of illegal tobacco products and vapes seized by Trading standards and the investigation is lead by them.
If you have any concerns about any of the local shops in Swanley then either please report these to trading standards - Find your local Trading Standards office - GOV.UK or reply in confidence to this MCV post to your local officer(s).
